WHO WE ARE: The United Motorcycle Council of Queensland is a peak group representing 16 motorcycle clubs from around Queensland. Membership is also open to individuals.

The council has been formed to provide clubs and individuals with an avenue for dispute resolution. It also aims to break down some of the negative stereotypes about motorcycle clubs and members, and allows bikers to have a say in issues that affect them.

** The Queensland government have already introduced new anti-association legislation (anti-bikie laws) which will not only effectively outlaw motorbike clubs, but also impact the civil liberties of all Queenslanders. **

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

Hundreds of UMCQ members and supporters are asking us what they can do to stop their government trampling all over the democratic rights of motorcycle riders and of all Queensland citizens.

We’ve drafted an example (click here), to give you an idea of the kinds of messages we are trying to get through to them.  (Click here) for a list of MPs, then email, fax or write a letter to your representative. For best results just use the sample letter as a guide, try and include questions that need to be answered by multiple departments, and absolutely the best way to be noticed is to put a stamp on it and post it.

Although it is the Labor Government that slammed this through, it will not hurt to send letters to both the Labor MP's and Liberal/National Party MP's as well as independents. Even though these laws are now in we cannot rest, a continual stream of letters from as many Australian citizens as you can convince to write them the more the politicians will pay attention. Remember they have a short attention span.

Remember – Politicians were voted in to Parliament to represent us, not to repress us !
